Craig and Barbara Newnes Posted 16/04/2008

Craig with wife Barabara and baby Samuel

Congratulations go to Ex Capenhurst Villa FC centre-half, Craig Newnes and his wife Barbara pictured, who gave birth to twin boys some weeks ago. The Twins were 11 weeks premature and gave cause for a lot of concern in the early weeks, but both twins, Samuel (pictured) and Harvey, are now doing well and their health is steadily improving.

They are being cared for impeccably, at the Neonatal Unit of the Liverpool Women's Hospital in Liverpool and hopefully will be allowed home very soon.

All at 'The Cape' Wish You Well

Congratulations to Ebby Posted 18/11/2007

Congratulations go to Capenhurst Villa FC Goalkeeping coach Neil Ebbrell, who's wife gave birth to a bouncing baby boy this week.

This was Neils second son, and weighing in at over 10lb 11oz, it looks like you've got a right handful there mate.

Once again 'Congratulations'.

Sharpy Returns Posted 16/09/2007

Great news for ex-cape marksman Chris Sharp, as he returns from injury, after more than 12 months out of the game with a broken leg. The lines below are taken from the Rhyl FC web-site, 'Lilywhites on-line' last week.

"FIVE wins out of five, top of the table and even better the long awaited return of Chris Sharp - all in all, a great day for Rhyl Football Club.

Sharp had been out of action for over a year following the horrific double leg break he suffered in a UEFA Cup tie in Lithuania in July 2006. The road to recovery has been long and arduous but it was great to see Sharpy back in action as a second-half substitute."

All the best on your return Chris from all of us at 'The Cape'

Charity Golf Day July 28th 2007 Posted 29/07/2007

A few of the Cape Legends turned out for a Charity Golf day at Hooton Golf Club, Ellesmere Port.

20 plus teams competed in a Texas Scramble event in aid of the Countess of Chester Hospital 'Breast Awareness'.

The Capenhurst Legends finished in a creditable 6th place, but the winner was the Charity, as well over £2000 was raised by Raffles and donations on the day.

The organizer of the Golf Day, Denver Brazier, is making this a yearly event, so Capenhurst Villa FC will be more than happy to come back in the future to support a worthwhile and Fun event.

Salthill Devon F.C. 'Carlsberg Fives' 2007 Posted 12/06/2007

Well, it's been over a week since arriving back, from a hectic but nevertheless enjoyable trip to Galway, Ireland. The football lasted all of 10 minutes, as the Capenhurst Legends (see pic) bowed out in the first round 1-3. Undeterred though, the lads Celebrated and drank on into the night. Guinness, after Guinness, after Guinness, Jeeeeez.

Those present were: Kev Marlow, Rick Breeze, Frank Andrews, John McHugh, John Dowd, John Walters, Chris Armstrong, Brian Heyes, Pete Frances, and Keith(10 euros please!)Stocker.

We were made more than welcome by everyone at Salthill, even after a 10 year gap since the last time Cape were represented. It has to be said, you'll go a long way to see a better standard of tournament or indeed, one more professionally run than this, with over 3,000 people present to watch the final. (just 1500 watched cape legends). I'll hopefully be posting more pics at a later date.

Maybe we can send a more youthful looking side next year. If not, the legends will have to do it all over again. Damn!!

Club of the Year 2007 Posted 26/05/2007

At the West Cheshire Annual Presentation evening at Vauxhall Club, Capenhurst Villa FC, for the second year running, won the West Cheshire AFL 'Club of the Year' award.

OK It's not the promotion or silverware we were looking for at the start of the season, but it is testament to the way the club is run and the way it projects itself.

So lets hope we can make it a hat-trick next year, along with Promotion.

Cape Presentation Night Posted 25/05/2007

At the Capenhurst Villa FC Annual Presentation evening a good night was had by all.

The Presentation Night also doubled-up as a fund raiser for Capes Graham Forster, with a very successful 'Race Evening'. Graham unfortunately broke his leg back in April, playing for Capenhurst Villa.

The 'Player of the Year' honours on the night went to:

Craig Hacking..... 1st Team 'Players player'

Dave Peace..... 1st Team 'Managers player'

Lee Hammond..... 2nd Team 'Players player'

Duncan Tolen..... 2nd Team 'Managers player'

Well done to all

Golf Day Saturday 12th May Posted 13/05/2007

The Capenhurst Villa Golf Day was a huge success. As 17 of us tackled the tough, 'Aldersey Green' course. Luckily the rain stayed away and a good day was had by all.

Even though the scores were slightly on the low side, last years winner Jamie Guy once again came up trumps, winning on a back-nine card play off from 2nd placed Martin (Sooty) Williams. In 3rd place was Sparkys arl fella, Joe Ryan. Joe also won one of the two nearest the pin prizes along with his son Mark (Sparky) Ryan.

Graham Forster posted 08/04/2007

Lightning strikes again, as young defender Graham (Fozzy) Forster, suffers a double fracture of his right leg in Saturdays game against Focus. This is the fourth serious injury at the club this season.

As this season closes, we hope for better luck with injuries next season. Other Injuries this season include: Dave Peace broken Jaw, Lee Hammond broken wrist and Tom Jones missed the whole season with a broken ankle, as well as ex-player Chris Sharp breaking his leg whilst playing for his present club Rhyl.

We wish Fozz a quick recovery and hopefully he'll be back soon, 100% fit.

"Get well soon Fozz"

John Keefe

Happy 40th Keefy

Brian and Janice Heyes posted 08/10/2006

Our Congratulations go to our President elect, Brian Heyes and his wife Janice on their recent marriage. May they have a long and happy time together.
A posse of  people from both Capenhurst Football and Rugby Club, travelled over to the Costa Blanca, Spain (where Brian & Janice live), to witness the Blessing and to celebrate later in the Olympia Bar, Mil Palmeras.

A great 5 days was had by all, and it took an equal amount of time to get over the celebrations. Once again our best wishes go to the happy couple.

Brian & Janice

GOOD LUCK

Dave Peace posted 27/08/2006

In the words of Victor Meldrew, "I Don't Believe It" Yet another serious injury at Capenhurst, as new signing, goalkeeper Dave Peace, breaks his Jaw in a friendly game with his Sunday League side. Dave is having an operation to mend the fracture tomorrow 28/08/2006.

Our best wishes go out to him. "Get well soon mate"

Lee Hammond posted 23/08/2006

Well, lightning strikes three times it seems, as Cape youngster Lee Hammond broke his wrist in the game against Grange Athletic two days ago. After Tom Jones (ankle) and the bad news of Chris Sharp breaking his leg, we didn't really want another such injury. But they say bad luck comes in threes!

So Lee joins the ranks of the walking wounded, not for too long though, we hope.

Tom Jones posted 12/08/2006

Well, lightning does strike twice. After the bad news of Sharpy breaking his leg (see below), Cape Midfielder Tom Jones, breaks his ankle in an accident at work.

Tom was looking forward to this season, and looked to be going well in the pre-season friendlies, until his bad luck.

Our thoughts are with Tom. Hopefully this will be a brief set-back, and he can make a quick recovery.

Chris Sharp posted 10/08/2006

As everyone at the club probably knows by now, Ex Capenhurst Villa Striker, Chris Sharp, broke his leg playing in a EUFA Cup qualifier in Lithuania, for his present club Rhyl.

Chris suffered an accidental, double leg break, just minutes after coming off the bench, in the 2-1 UEFA cup defeat against FK Suduva.

Our thoughts are with Chris, hoping he has a swift recovery.
